I have already covered this in a previous blog but just to test it out, I applied this technique in the last club meeting.
Voila, it worked, and I won not only the Best Evaluator among four extremely talented evaluators but also the table topics. Well, that’s because the table topics was different this time.
Our VP Education was the Table Topics master and she’s an innovator. So, she played a three minute Priyanka Chopra speech, which she then asked the Table Topics Speaker’s to evaluate, based on her selected areas such as Share one Commendation, a Recommendation, and Summarize the evaluation.
Once again, being clear with the Evaluation framework helped me sail through smoothly.
The additional trick I used is to use my left hand fingers to note the key points, to grab the attention (400 thousand years ago…), share the 1st positive, the 2nd positive, the suggestion for 2nd positive, feedback to improve,
- Grab Audience Attention – Opening
- Acknowledge the speaker – Opening
- 1st Positive (Speaker’s biggest strength) – Body
- 2nd Positive (What you thought was good) – Body
- Suggestion for the 2nd Positive – Body
- Feedback to improve – Body
- Recommendation – Body
- Summarize – Closing
Here’s my evaluation clip for your reference.
Until next time, this is Mohit signing off.
