Indian government websites and apps have forever been a tough nut to crack. Include in it the Aarogya Setu app, L&DO website (Central government) or the MCD website.
Although they do help us get some work done faster but may be they want us not to forget the legacy of unnecessary delay and bureaucratic easily. May be it is part of their “Business” requirements.
Anyway, before something changes, or breaks on the latest MCD process of filing the Property Taxes, here’s the process for you:
What I figured recently was that the old website of MCD has changed, and they simply give this message on it: The Site is under maintenance
I wonder why can’t they mention that the site has changed to a new one. Well, perhaps that would make it easy for the users, that’s why? Anyway, here’s the new functional website link.
- Register yourself by clicking on the New User Click Here For SignUp / Registration link. That would register your mobile phone which is required for OTP which it will send you to verify during login.
- Once again go to the main page ( link ) and this time login using your mobile phone and verifying the OTP you would have received on your mobile phone.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Register New Property button, and assuming you know the property code, follow the first radio button.
- Enter the UPIC/ Property ID and press search. It should show the details in the search results at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the action button and register property. This would like the Property to your Mobile / Login.
- When you login again or go back to main page, you would see these details showing under at the top of the page.
- Click on ACTION button and press “Edit Property/ Owner Details”.
- There are two Tabs here – Property and Owner. You will have to fill each of these properly.
- Property tab must be filled by adding a section for each built floor with details of covered area, and other details. This is basis for Tax calculations.
- Owner tab should be filled correctly including the email and other details. However, this is not as critical and can be updated later as needed. Well, same with Property details but that’s more important to be filled correctly.
- Once done, go back to Dashboard and this time around select ACTION button and select “Calculate and Pay Tax”
- Rest of the steps are pretty intuitive. Select the financial year, and assuming all details are already in, it would ask you to press the NEXT button, CALCULATE TAX button followed by “PAY TAX”.
- PAY TAX would take you to a payment gateway and give out a receipt at the end.
(Sample: Property Details page with details of all constructed floors and vacant area.)
