When God puts us through a difficult time, he automatically also prepares us for overcoming the same.
There is a quote that goes like this:
“If He puts us to it, He puts us through it”
Meaning that when He (God) is giving us a challenge, he also gives us the powers to deal with the situation.
Only thing that is required from us is an unending faith- a belief that is so strong that wouldn’t go away no matter what happens.
The question then is how to be develop this faith?
Will it come on it’s own one day? I don’t think so.
Do I just pray and hope that it would come? Naa..
Do I leave just focus on my duties and leave the rest to God? That’s doesn’t seem right either..
Faith is developed little by little if we work on it a bit daily. The best ways I can suggest that work for me are:
- Read books of faith – could be the religious texts like the Geeta or Bible or other writers. My favorite ones are Khushwant Singh, John Maxwell, Sheryl Sandberg, among others. Some people say that they don’t believe in God (we’re atheists, they would say). But the truth is that while the teachings of Geeta, Quran, Bible and other religious texts are constant since thousands of years, the science Theories change all the time.
- Listen to spiritual songs esp. when you’re putting yourself to sleep. It brings a focus to the mind which is otherwise very easy to lose. Staying focused / present in the moment is the most important virtues human beings can develop.
- Write , draw, create something about how your faith resulted in your achieving a good result. Even if it is small but yet good outcome. Faith deepens in tough times. Writing it out helps to strengthen it further.
“As Faith wills, so Fate fulfils. …“ , the very famous architect who designed The India Gate , wrote this on a jewelry casket for his beloved wife.
It means that when we have a strong faith, it the fate or destiny will work together with it to produce and fulfill our dreams.
What other ideas do you follow to build your faith – or belief?
Until next time, this is Mohit signing off.
Before I go, this is what I did yesterday to strengthen my faith:
- Our yoga teacher sent us this quote ( call it affirmation, which we should speak everyday). I read it.
- I created my version of it. Listen it. And of course, I wrote this blog about it. 🙂
- I am listening to it and speaking it out since yesterday , will do it at least for next ten days.
