by There is an addition to waste management system that is the use of BLACK DUSTBIN FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE. You must be familar with the GREEN and BLUE one. BUT what is the importance of the three tier DUSTBIN SYSTEM while we can collectively throw waste in a single bin. Let’s solve the DUSTBIN MYSTERY:-
GREEN DUSTBIN:- used for wet waste disposal such as:-
- kitchen’s waste which includes – veggies and fruits peel, leftover food, egg shell, bones of chicken, tea bag , etc.
- Garden’s waste:- it includes fallen leaves, garland, grass etc.
BLUE DUSTBIN:- Used for the disposal of dry waste such as :-
- PLASTIC:- all the things made of plastic such as bottle,cartons,paper, cups, plates,boxes.
- PAPER:- newspaper, stationary, magzines, tetra packs etc
- METAL:- boxes, glass, jar
- OTHER DRY WASTE:- rubber,thermocol, old clothes, coconut peel, food packetc, beauty products, etc
BLACK DUSTBIN:- Used for disposal of hazadous wastes such as:-
- SANITARY :- Diaper, sanitary napkins, nails, used tissue paper, cotton, expired medicines.
- SHARP OBJECTS:- Should be wrapped in tissue paper – razor, used syringes, used needle, blade, bottle of injection.
- ELECTRONICS:- handle with care- battery, mobile cover, tab, earphone, bulb, tube light, CFL, broken glass pieces[wrapped in newspaper]. etc
One doubt- if is a mix of two like wet diaper or Something ? Which bin to use in that case.?
I have faced this sometimes while thrown for food just from the name on the bin it is not clear at times. Like plastic + waste food.

if it’s a wet diaper then wrap it in a newspaper and throw it in black bin only.
and if it’s food wrapped in plastic one can throw the food in the green bin as it can be use for making compost while the plastic needs to be thrown in blue bin.
it sometime gets very confusing but with time we get to know more about it. this small effort will make a big change.
